Basingstoke Sports Awards 2016

Bluefins were well represented at the annual Basingstoke Sports Awards. With swimmers and volunteers from Performance Squad, Sharks and Masters invited to two separate events, to celebrate success and receive grant awards and scholarships.

On Friday night the finalists were invited to the annual Sports Awards Dinner at the Apollo Hotel.  

Basingstoke Bluefins Sharks were finalists in the Junior Sports Team of the Year, with the added honour of also being forwarded to the finals of the Hampshire & IOW Awards. Sharks also had James Scott as a finalist in the Senior Disability category and Cameron Lloyd and Scott Howe present as finalists for Junior Disability Sports Person of the Year and Cameron crowned the evening for Bluefins and Sharks in particular by going on to win the award.

Performance swimmer Molly Goffin was a finalist in the Junior Sports Lady category, Masters swimmers Fleur Parker and Zoe Sadler were finalists in the Senior Sports Lady section and Spencer Turner was a finalist in the Senior Sports Man. Brian Harrison was a finalist in the Senior Volunteer Category.

On Tuesdays evening sportsmen and women from across Basingstoke attended the Mayor's Reception to receive a combination of cheques, certificates and sponsorship. Performance swimmers Charlyne and Julia Lebosse, Graeme Richardson, Will Sadler and Isla Haynes were all invited to the event to receive their grants and certificates.
