Introduction to Water Polo

We are a relatively small but ambitious club,. Initially, the club was formed in 1975 by Ron Ellis and a few other Waterpolo players that moved into the Basingstoke area in the early 1990’s we joined forces with what used to be Basingstoke Swimming Club (now Basingstoke Bluefins), with the aim of retaining members in the club and allowing an easier route into waterpolo.

All our training sessions are at the Basingstoke Aquadrome.

The Aquadrome provides a great environment for playing water polo, with an all deep (1.8m), deck-level pool, with spectator seating, team changing rooms, electronic scoreboard with 30 sec clocks, and decent lighting and water quality, making it one of the best venues in the south of England for the sport. Home matches are played here on training nights, so please refer the fixtures list for home games. Spectators are always welcome

In November 2008 we attained SWIM21 accreditation the first waterpolo club to do so in the South East region

We have 5 squads:

Senior Men’s: - We play in the ASA South East Region League Hampshire league and invitational Tournaments with ambitions of South East region League and ultimately the National League. Friendlies are arranged to introduce players into the squad and allow a transition from the junior squads

Training times: Tuesdays 20:30- 22:00 (excluding match nights. See fixture list on calendar) and Sundays 20:30-21:30.

Senior Ladies Squad: - Open to any female player who wishes to play water polo. Currently, we compete in the London League and friendlies and invitation tournaments

Training times: Thursday 19:30 - 21:00 (excluding match nights. See fixture list on calendar)

Junior/Youth Squads: - Open to any club member aged from 12-18 yrs. Wishing to play competitive Waterpolo competes respective London league age groups leagues ( under 15 and under 19) and invitational tournaments

Training times: Thursday 19:30-21:00 (excluding match nights. See fixture list on calendar)

Academy Squad open to anyone from 9 -15 yrs wishing to learn the sport of Waterpolo.  We play friendly competitive matches against other local teams

Training times: Friday 17:30 - 18:20
