Bluefins Masters' success at GB Masters Championships
The British Gas Masters and Senior Age Group Long Course Championships were held over the weekend of 19th-21st June at the Cardiff International Pool. A small contingent of 5 swimmers from the Masters squad made the journey to Cardiff with some excellent results, most notably Dave Davenport who won GOLD in two events. The full list of Bluefins medallists is below.
Dave Davenport: 55-59 age group
GOLD in 1500m freestyle and 200m butterfly; Silver in 200m freestyle, 400m freestyle and 400m IM; Bronze in 800m freestyle..
Caroline Slimin : 40-44 age group
Silver in 1500m freestyle
Mark Straw: 50-54 age group
Bronze in 800m freestyle.
Michelle Matson and Catherine Shearn also swam and were unlucky to miss out on the medals against tough competition in their age groups. As well as the medal haul, there were also a number of new PBs over the weekend – Dave, Mark and Catherine each set 2 new PBs and Caroline set 1 new PB.
Congratulations to all the Bluefins swimmers who took part. Next year we hope that more Bluefins Masters will enter and bring home more medals!
