Top Team and Top Lady at the Isle of Wight Masters Meet
16 Bluefins Masters travelled to the Isle of Wight last weekend (19th-20th February 2010) to compete in the 12th “Heights” Isle of Wight Marlins (Masters) open meet.
Swimmers from 23 teams took part in the competition, with a very close battle for the Top Team. There was a great team atmosphere, and Basingstoke Bluefins finished the meet with 198 points to take the top team trophy, just slightly ahead of Ruislip & Northwood on 182 points. This was helped by a couple of unnamed female team members who jointly decided on a marathon attempt to boost the points total by swimming 13 and 14 events respectively!
Congratulations to all 16 Bluefins team members who took part in the competition- Caroline Slimin, Kate Robarts, Michelle Matson, Jean Hanna, Joanne Postins, Eileen Hayward, Catherine Shearn, Zoe Sadler, Shirley Mison, Colin Dew, Frank Taylor, James Scott, Tony Scott, Mark Straw, Gerry McElroy and not forgetting our excellent Masters coach Neil Jackson.
In total the Bluefins Masters won a staggering 41 gold, 29 silver and 17 bronze medals, with Zoe Sadler taking the trophy for Top Lady, achieving 31 points.
